Jal Photos (ones I took!!)

These are a couple of the clearest photographs of Jal that I managed to get from my phone.. The rest are even more blurred or just not clear because there was too much lighting behind the band.. on stage..to know about the concert.. check out the previous post!!

Carpe Diem!!

September 9th 2006: My first college fest had to be the "GOD" of campus events.. CARPE DIEM!!! An all day fest organised by CBIT, my neighbouring college. We at MGIT (oh my God.. i feel so cool saying that!!) kind of accept CBITs campus as an extension of our own.. though its probably the other way round..If u want to know more about the fest.. then google it.. if u want to hear hands on experience.. read on..

I started my first rebellious act in college today by bunking the whole day.. officially bunked (parents knew i was bunking :P ).. which was not a big deal because only 21 people turned up in class (out of 60). But whatever!!! bunking is bunking alright.. and im proud of it ..

I attended it from the afternoon when the rock band contest "Slash" was on.. most of the music did not really make sense to me as I had never heard it before but I heard some of my favourite songs (like my sacrifice-creed and a couple of coldplay songs) and thought that most of the bands did a good job. Im not really familiar with all musical instruments.. but I can definitely say that the guitarists were awesome...

Then was DJ Sukethu's turn to play.. well he hardly played.. just about 20 minutes.. and then a local DJ took over.. but that did not stop any of the people present from having fun..we had a great time.. dancing.. trying to make sure none of our direct seniors were watching in case we might get ragged :P . Once that got over.. with aching feet.. and still full of enthusiasm.. we attacked the food stalls before heading for the cricket ground for the concert...

As for the concert.. well.. it was supposed to start at 7:30... and maintaining hyderabadi traditions.. it started LATE.. with a speech by Balakrishna.. I hope no one takes this personally.. but I thought the applause were hardest when he left the stage. Then the cast of "The Angrez" performed a few bits from their new movie.. "Hyderabad Nawabs" a sequel to "The Angrez". And then one of them did a bit on how it would sound if Shah Rukh Khan and a few other well known artists tried their hand at hyderabadi dialogues.. it had us all in splits of laughter. Then came the highly awaited N.C. Karunya..

What to say about Karunya now??? I must say I was a big fan of his.. wasted a large amount of my permanently low phone balance on sending him votes for Indian idol.. I wish I had seen this performance before I had sent all those votes. I would have saved SO much money!!! So that probably gives you the idea, he was pathetic. I guess he was trying to impress Hyderabad as a whole forgetting that he was entertaining a crowd of roughly 10,000 college going students. But we were definitely glad.. that we did not have to bear more than an hour of him. We had a lot of fun commenting on his lack of dancing skills and bad choice of music :P .

AND THEN CAME JAL!!!! Oh my God they ROCKED!! Been a fan of Jal.. but now im totally into their music. They were awesome.. totally!! No words to describe them really... Theyre just too cool.. and they performed amazingly well!!!

In all Carpe Diem was great fun!! But I guess most of the fun was because I was with my friends... thanks to all those who were with me that day.. for making it so much fun!!
